winter_vertical_stripWhether it’s wind or rain, ice or snow, winter is tough on us all and can leave your hair feeling dry and lifeless. But fear not, the Grace team have plenty of advice for you. So keep cool and beat those winter blues with our top tips for winter hair care…

1. Damp weather makes curly hair go frizzy and makes fine hair appear flat. Ugh. Keep calm and tame your curls with Wella’s Oil Reflections and EIMI shimmer delight – available in the salon. Make your fine hair fab with volumising sprays to boost the root. Body Crafter Volumising Spray is great for this – also available in salon.

2. To reduce ‘hat hair’ and the static caused by temperature change (such as your central heating), use anti-static hair brushes.

3. Avoid shampoos and conditioners that contain parabens and sulphates, which are the chemicals used to make shampoo lather up. These can aggravate your skin and leave you with a dry scalp. Look out for ‘paraben-free’ or ‘sulphate-free’ products and check the ingredients.

Wella’s brand new ELEMENTS range ticks all the boxes. Ask about the range next time you’re in the salon.

4. Beautiful summer blondes can shine throughout winter by using tonal shampoos to keep them fresh, bright and beautiful. Or why not pop in to the salon and have a Wella Instamatic service? These cool colours let you change shades on a weekly basis.

Redhead or brunette? You can keep shining too with tonal shampoos which add vibrance to reds and a rich depth to browns.

5. During winter we often put more ‘mechanical stress’ on our hair, such as blow-drying, straightening and curling. Don’t forget your Wella Thermal Image heat protection spray when using heated appliances on your hair. Buy a pair of Wella straightening irons in salon and receive the heat spray, worth over £10, free!

Here’s some more quick tips…

• Research suggests that avoiding carbs in your diet can make your hair looking more healthy.

Have it cut regularly! We suggest every 4 to 6 weeks.

Tame fly-away hair by spraying your hairbrush with hairspray before brushing your hair.

• Drink plenty of water to keep yourself, and your hair, hydrated.
